Report summary
Exploration in Madagascar has yet to yield large-scale commercially producing assets. Offshore exploration has been disappointing to date. However, onshore has yielded some success in the form of four discoveries. The most notable are the heavy oil and oil sands at Tsimiroro and Bemolanga. Small volumes of gas and light oil discoveries were also made onshore. The presence of gas and light oil indicates the potential for conventional exploration in Madagascar's onshore basins.
