Mexilhão is a large gas field that also serves as a gathering hub for associated and non-associated gas from other developments in the region. The associated gas from the BS-500 Pole, Lula-Iracema and Sapinhoá fields is delivered to the Mexilhão platform. This stream together with Mexilhão gas and liquids are piped from the PMXL-1 platform to shore where the gas is treated at the Caraguatatuba gas plant (UTGCA), before being piped into the grid.
