The Nord Stream 2 pipeline was built to transport Russian gas to Europe across the Baltic Sea. Nord Stream 2 follows much of the route of the existing Nord Stream pipeline. It passes through the territorial waters of Russia and Germany and through the Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ) of Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany.
