Olowi was discovered onshore Gabon by Pioneer in 2001. The oil and gas field is reservoired in the pre-salt Gamba sandstone formation. A development licence was awarded in 2005, when Canadian Natural Resources (CNR) acquired Pioneer's interest and operatorship. CNR brought the field on stream in 2008. The development comprises three wellhead platforms and one support/accommodation platform tied back to the Knock Allan floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel.
