OML 143 (previously OML 39) is located in thickly forested terrain in the onshore northern Niger Delta. It contains the Okwuibome field, which was discovered by Shell in 1979, and the smaller Anieze field. In 2005, Shell-operated OML 39 was rescinded and then re-awarded in 2007 as OPL 280 to Sterling Global, in partnership with a local company, Allene Energy.
