OML 148 is predominantly located in Edo State, in the north-western Niger Delta but also straddles portions of Ondo and Delta states. In 2015, the indigenous company Sahara Group signed a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for OML 148. The asset is operated by its upstream subsidiary Asharami Energy (through Enageed Resource Limited (ERL), Pre-conversion, the block was initially known as OML 1 and operated by the Shell petroleum Development Company (SPDC).
