Petronius (VK 786) is a medium-sized oil and associated gas field located in the Viosca Knoll protraction area in the central Gulf of Mexico. The field is a standalone development using a compliant tower drilling and production platform, 550 metres (1,800 feet) in height. The development suffered a serious setback when one of the two deck modules sank during installation in late-1998. However, the module was re-built and successfully installed in May 2000.
