Powder River basin: the final water frontier
Report summary
Activity in Powder River basin (PRB) continues to hold up; we expect production in the basin nearly double in size over the next five years. Still, the produced water industry in the basin is nascent and creates opportunities for further efficiencies for operators and service companies alike. Compared to the Midland basin, the Powder River has two to three times the disposal cost. Closing the gap between Permian water practices and the Powder River basin could yield value creation in the millions of dollars per section.
