2021 ended with 30 major project FIDs. Noteworthy towards end of the year were the Scarborough project in Australia and deepwater projects in Brazil and Africa. Total committed spend stood at US$135 million. 2022 is off to a quick start with huge oil volumes sanctioned in the Middle East - Saudi Aramco's Zuluf increment - and TotalEnergies/CNOOC's Lake Albert project in Uganda. Committed spend in 2022 could bounce back to 2018 levels.
