Q3 2022 pre-FID upstream project tracker: Jackdaw is the first FID in the UK since 2019
Report summary
Shell was given approval to develop the Jackdaw field in the UK Central North Sea. The uHP/HT gas field will be developed via a wellhead platform and tied back to Shell's Shearwater facilities. It is the first major project to be sanctioned in the UK since 2019. Offshore projects in the US, Norway and Angola were also sanctioned. The remainder of 2022 is expected to be a busy period for FIDs with almost 50% of projects in 2022 still to be sanctioned. Most will receive the greenlight, however, as inflation continues to rise projects may slip as operators seek to control costs.
