Lower 48 producers have the flexibility to respond to changes in oil prices. However, most Lower 48 E&Ps are prioritizing returning cash to shareholders while delivering modest and sustainable production growth. With the recent wave of consolidation, we believe any response to changes in oil prices will be muted compared to the behavior of tight oil producers in the previous decade.
