On 18 July 2011, Santos announced that it had reached binding agreements to acquire 100% of the outstanding shares in Eastern Star Gas (ESG). The all share transaction values ESG at A$869 million (US$922 million). Santos already owns 20.9% of ESG, having first purchased equity in the company in July 2009.
