Report summary
The Sardine field (previously known as Roussette) is located in shallow waters in the north west of Gabon, around 15 kilometres west of Port Gentil. It was discovered in 1985 by Elf and was originally thought to be too small to develop. The Espadon field was a part of the Sardine field on the neighbouring Espadon block.
