The Sohrab field is located 90 kilometres north west of the city of Ahvaz and on the border with Iraq. It was discovered in 2012 and is estimated to contain around 2 billion barrels of oil in place. The field is one of National Iranian oil Company's (NIOC's) more recent discoveries and neighbours the giant Azadegan oilfield.NIOC and local company Dana Energy signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the field's development in 2012.
