In June 2019, Wood Mackenzie travelled to Cairo to meet with the key players in Egypt’s energy sector. We held our annual breakfast briefing and discussed the latest trends in the country’s oil and gas industry. The mood is upbeat. Zohr is ramping towards its 3.2 bcfd plateau and the country’s gas production is forecast to exceed 8 bcfd by the end of the year. However, domestic gas demand is slowing down. ELNG will absorb part of the volumes, but the question appearing on producers' mind is whether production curtailment will be required to manage surplus?
