We performed a bottoms-up analysis of Indonesia’s 'energy super basin' potential. Such basins have the potential to produce 'advantaged hydrocarbons' of low carbon and cost. As environmental and societal pressure mounts to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions and achieve net zero, these basins could be the future of sustainable and resilient hydrocarbon production. We analyse: 1. Why operators must act now to decarbonise the upstream sector. 2. How and where such "energy super basins" can exist. 3. Our ranking methodology and results 4. How such results can be used to spur debate and encourage discourse between government and upstream operators
