TPAO, Türkiye's state energy firm, operates the giant Sehit Esma Cevik and Sehit Aybuke Yalcin oil fields in the Gabar mountains, southeast Türkiye, at an altitude greater than 1,700 metres. The first exploration well was drilled in 2021 and the first discovery announced in 2022. Production was quickly brought online from the exploration and appraisal wells.
