723GW of solar PV additions are expected through 2024 primarily in mature markets and Asia Pacific region, according to Wood Mackenzie Power and Renewables. 7 markets in the Asia Pacific region will make it to the GW-level solar power market club in 2019, up from 5 in 2018. China, India & Japan combined capacity will decline 4% y-o-y while rest of APAC will increase by 36% in 2019. The Chinese market is leading the region as usual despite the significate policy changes on utility-scale and solar tariff phaseout. Solar cost declines are one of major reasons behind the great momentum of the whole region.
