2013 brought mixed fortunes to South-Eastern Asia’s upstream industry. Exploration activity was down and progress at a number of major projects stalled, but over US$5 billion was spent acquiring upstream assets. Development expenditure approached US$25 billion, reflecting the strength of interest in the right opportunities.
