Nearly all publicly-listed US Lower 48 E&Ps are tackling upstream emissions to some extent. But private companies face different stakeholders and business drivers, which can result in a different prioritization of emissions. Understanding their emissions progress is critical to determine how quickly and efficiently the wider Lower 48 upstream sector is reducing emissions, given private companies now account for a higher proportion of D&C activity than Majors. But the limited public disclosures private companies provide make benchmarking and even basic analysis challenging. To provide greater insight into their emissions profiles and opportunities to compare against public companies, we’ve gathered important emissions metrics from the EPA for 20 of the most active or high-profile private E&Ps.
