US upstream week in brief: Pioneer and Oxy set an aggressive pace in the Permian
Report summary
Pioneer and Occidental released ambitious production goals this week, but are they attainable? We take a closer look at each company's Permian growth prospects. As short term organic growth remains challenging in the northeast, EQT further consolidates its southern Marcellus position with the purchase of Stone Energy's West Virginia assets. Western Gas Partners, Anadarko's midstream MLP, follows its parent company's shift to the Permian through an asset interest swap with Williams. Apache's recent Alpine High well results fail to impress, although the company may be holding back.
