Report summary
Waitsia is an onshore conventional gas field in the Perth Basin. It was discovered in 2014 and appraised in 2015. The field was brought onstream through the existing Xyris gas plant in August 2016. Waitsia Stage 2 was sanctioned in December 2020 including a new-build 250 TJ/d (245 mmcfd) gas plant in addition to increasing the capacity of the Xyris gas plant to 30 TJ/d (28 mmcfd). Waitsia gas will be delivered to the Bunbury-to-Dampier pipeline where AGIG, the pipeline operator, will backhaul the gas to the North West Shelf for LNG export. Up to 7.5 MMt of LNG is destined for export from Waitsia.
