What comes next for Egypt’s gas market?
Report summary
Egypt’s gas market has been on a roller coaster ride. In just four years, the country has gone from a gas deficit of 1 bcfd to a surplus of a similar magnitude. However, the spectacular gas production growth hit a roadblock in 2020. Domestic demand and exports stalled, leading the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (EGAS) to impose production cuts on upstream operators. The picture remains dynamic though, as the country will need more gas to compensate for decline at mature fields in the coming years.
