Report summary
The Zaafarana oil field is located 6.5 kilometres offshore in the Gulf of Suez, approximately 8 kilometres northeast of Zaafarana town. BG Group (now Shell) discovered the shallow water field in 1990. A drilling and production platform was constructed in 1993, exporting crude via a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel to shuttle tankers.In 1999, BG sold its 50% stake in the field to Pico (now Cheiron).The primary producing formations produce viscous heavy crude oil. ...
