      • Horacio Cuenca is Wood Mackenzie’s Southern Cone Upstream Research Director, based in Rio de Janeiro. Horacio works as a content leader for research efforts in Latin America, shaping Wood Mackenzie's Southern Cone regional perspective within the global upstream team. Interpreting industry developments in their local context and their impact on the wider Latin American oil and gas context. Horacio is responsible for maintaining and growing Wood Mackenzie’s analytical coverage in Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia, developing junior analysts and representing Wood Mackenzie's views in regional industry events. Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie in 2013, Horacio worked 7 years for IHS CERA’s Energy and Natural Resources Practice in London as a Senior Consultant focused on upstream new ventures advisory services. Horacio has ample experience using quantitative analysis to understand the impact on project and portfolio value of fiscal regimes, key technical parameters and decisions made under uncertainty. Prior to that Horacio worked for Petroecuador and independent operators in Ecuador. Horacio holds a BA in Economy and a B.A. in Corporate Finance and a Masters Degree in Petroleum Economy from Scuola Superiore Enrico Mattei in Milan, Italy.

      Speakers

      • Amanda joined Wood Mackenzie in 2015 and is a Research Analyst with the Latin America Upstream team. She focuses on Argentina, especially unconventionals. She is responsible for modelling Vaca Muerta as well as tight gas potential and covering M&A activity in the country. She has also covered Venezuela, Colombia, and Peru. Prior to Wood Mackenzie, Amanda was a management consultant in the oil and gas industry, focusing on supply chain optimization and post-merger integration. She received her B.A. in Mathematical Economic Analysis and Statistics from Rice University.

      Speakers

      • Jonathan currently works on the US Lower 48 Upstream Research team, focusing on unconventional technology, oilfield services, and onshore development fundamentals. He has extensively covered plays and operators in the Rocky Mountain and Northeast regions. Jonathan specializes in decline curve analysis, economic modelling, and asset valuation. Recent work includes in-depth analysis of Bakken operator activity, production trends, crude export capacity and enhanced completions. Jonathan regularly contributes to energy and finance publications and is a frequent speaker at industry forums and conferences. Jonathan manages commercial development and client engagement for Wood Mackenzie’s new valuation tool, Contour. Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Jonathan worked for Schlumberger, both as an offshore field engineer (deepwater Gulf of Mexico) and in completions product development. Jonathan’s work mainly focused on reservoir monitoring and control. Jonathan holds MSE and BSE degrees in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan.

      • Mauro Chavez holds a PhD in Energy Planning from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where he focused his research on Southern Cone gas flows. At Wood Mackenzie, his area of coverage centers around natural gas & LNG markets in Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Mauro spent time as visiting researcher at the Imperial College London, the Center on Energy and Environmental Economics in Brazil and at the Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research in Portugal. He has worked at Sering Energy Markets and the Ministry of Mines and Energy in Peru. He holds a bachelor degree in Mechanical Electrical Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (Peru) and a master in Energy Systems Planning from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Brazil). He is based in Wood Mackenzie’s Rio de Janeiro office.
