Last week, three of the world’s largest oil companies suffered big defeats to stakeholders pushing for change in their climate and energy transition strategies.
- ExxonMobil shareholders voted to elect two of Engine No. 1’s nominees to the company’s 12-member board
- Chevron shareholders voted 61% in favour of a call for it to “substantially reduce” its Scope 3 emissions in the medium and long term
- Shell was ordered by a Dutch district court to cut its Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 45% by 2030
Each event was significant in its own right. That they came on the same day added to the sense that this is a watershed moment.
Join us on Thursday 3rd June for an interactive discussion with Wood Mackenzie’s leading analysts to learn more about the implications of this momentous day for the Majors and the wider industry.
