This looks set to be a pivotal year for carbon management, with potentially game-changing developments on a number of fronts.

For carbon policy, new mandatory emissions and methane reporting requirements and the prominence of climate finance at COP29 in 2024 set the scene for another interesting year. And with the change of administration in the US one key question is: which countries will emerge as climate leaders in 2025?

Meanwhile, carbon markets are becoming an increasingly important part of climate strategies in both compliance and offset spaces. Key things to look out for in 2025 include greater clarity on the EU's carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) expansion.

In the carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) space, one key change we expect is a slower rate of new project announcements as the focus shifts to maturation.

Our experts have explored these themes and more in a series of new reports that set out their view of the year ahead.
