Meet the WoodMac apprentices!

An insider view from the next generation of successful WoodMackers

It’s National Apprenticeship Week! #NAW2024 is an annual week-long celebration of apprentices and apprenticeships across the UK. Apprenticeships are a great way to get hands-on experience, and to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career.

WoodMac first cohort of apprentices joined us in 2021 in our Sales and Marketing teams. Since then, we have expanded the opportunity to other areas, such as the Research, Data and Customer Success teams in London.

Some of our incredible apprentices would like to introduce themselves to you and to share some of their experiences so far!

Yahya Ibrahim

"I am currently doing Level 4 Data Analyst and I have found the apprenticeship experience to be incredibly beneficial to my professional development. The opportunity has been instrumental in shaping my analytical skills and deepening my understanding of data driven decision making. In addition, it has helped me develop my soft skills such as effective communication, teamwork and problem solving."

Beth Cornish

"The apprenticeship scheme has helped me perfect skills that are necessary to a successful and rewarding career. I have had to navigate working full time and meeting the expectations of my apprenticeship. I have had ample opportunity to speak to groups of people and conduct presentations about my role and my impact. This has helped me get over a fear of speaking to groups in a formal setting."

Henric Xherimeja

"This apprenticeship has enabled me to succeed by providing me the time and resources to learn the key skills of my role but also to develop personally within the professional world. Being new to an industry and role can be challenging, the exposure provided to both is invaluable. Overall, this apprenticeship has been a pathway to confidence."

Laurel Bromhead

“This opportunity has been my gateway into the marketing world, providing countless chances to work on diverse tasks within the sector. From learning through apprenticeship tasks and classes to taking on the role of a marketing associate, this journey has immersed me fully."

Timothy Simmons

"I am really enjoying the apprenticeship so far. Wood Mackenzie offers a great environment for personal development. What’s stood out for me is how quickly I’ve been able to develop my Excel and Python skills! I always ask questions and everyone here is eager to help."

Apprenticeships are a fantastic way for those interested in learning a new discipline whilst having the chance to apply what they learn to their job. These opportunities allow the development and real-life applications of both technical and soft skills, that will help build the foundation of successful careers. Since 2021, we have not only continued to hire apprentices for our Sales teams but now expanded our apprenticeships offering. Opening opportunities across our Marketing, Research, and Data teams.
