Andy is a senior contributor to Wood Mackenzie analysis on the downstream oil markets. He has over 20 years of experience in the sector, encompassing refinery operations, commercial optimisation, capital planning, consulting, market analysis and trading.
Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Andy spent over a decade on oil trading floors within oil majors, proprietary trading firms and investment funds, conducting fundamental and quantitative analysis of the physical and derivative markets for crude oil and refined products. He has directly managed large-scale investment portfolios in cross-barrel oil derivatives, including options.
Andy is an experienced LP analyst, having covered multiple refineries and supported ongoing profit optimisation, crude selection, capital investments in reconfiguration, counterparty economic analysis and crude valuation for proprietary physical trading. He has led refinery participation in global performance benchmarking studies and has developed and led targeted improvement initiatives. He has has also led consulting engagements across refining, petrochemicals and midstream infrastructure, including M&A, bankable feasibility studies and bespoke market research.
