From oil to outfits, gas to garments: Wood Mackenzie now tells you the full, polyester story
Report summary
2020 has been one hell of a year for many of us, including the polyester research analysts at Wood Mackenzie Chemicals. The coronavirus came with a huge bang, and shook the very tenets of the industry. For the first time in more than ten years, global polyester growth is going negative, setting a record by declining more steeply than what was seen in the global financial crisis in 2008-2009. By March this year, all forecasts before the crisis had been jettisoned out of the window, and our clients were yearning for an updated view and clear guidance from our research analysts watching the polyester chain. If this crisis had struck before 2020, the likelihood of us rising to the challenge to meet the needs of our clients may be low. But because of the changes which have taken place recently, our polyester-related teams can now tell our clients the full, polyester story, which has proven so important in such a tumultuous and revolutionary year.
