Brule coal mine

Report summary

Brule is an idled metallurgical coal mine that normally produces an ultra low-vol PCI coal for international markets.  Brule's parent, Walter Energy, suspended operations at the mine in July 2014 due to weak metallurgical coal market conditions.  We expect that Brule will ship 1.2 million tons in 2014 from coal produced through July and from the mine's stockpile. As metallurgical coal prices rise, we believe that the mine could return to production in 2017.
