Report summary
Optimum is a large complex located in the Witbank Coalfield, incorporating both surface and underground mining areas. The mine area covers the Pullenshope 155 IS and Optimum 480 IS farms. The complex is made up of five distinct mining areas: the Kwagga, Kwagga North, Pullenshope and Eikeboom surface pits, and the Boschmanspoort underground mine. Optimum supplies thermal coal to Eskom's Hendrina and Arnot power stations.
