Colombian coal production reins in as prices remain low

Report summary

2019 has been a challenging year for Colombian coal producers, as international prices have fallen. Colombian thermal coal exports are projected to decline by 9 Mt this year, to 71 Mt. Murray Energy’s Colombian Natural Resources (CNR) is the latest to pull back as they have stopped production from El Hatillo and La Francia, resulting in a potential production decline of 1 Mt from these mines from last year.
