Wood Mackenzie's research trip to Jakarta, Indonesia took place in March 2017. We met several key coal producers, contractors, and traders to obtain a better understanding of the country's opportunities, challenges, and outlook. The coal prices have strengthened over the past few months and it is clear that the Indonesian miners have potential and plans to increase production in 2017. However, it would be accompanied by a higher strip ratio and costs.
