Kideco Samarangau is within the Kideco Jaya Agung (Kideco) concession. The Samarangau mine commenced production in 2009 and is the largest remaining deposit in Kideco's concession area. The Kideco concession area is in the Pasir region of East Kalimantan and also contains the Roto mine, Susubang mine, Samu block and Pinang Jatus block. It operates under a Generation I Coal Cooperation Agreement which was awarded on 14 September 1982.
