Report summary

Kutai Energi is a small scale coal mine located in the delta region of the Mahakam River approximately 25 kilometres south of the city of Samarinda. Kutai Energi is wholly owned by Toba Sejahtra, a private company with interests in several coal operations in East Kalimantan. The Kutai Energi concessions operate under two IUP agreements with an overall area of 65 square kilometres both issued in 2009. Kutai Energi produces bituminous thermal coal for export markets.
