Meandu coal mine
Report summary
Meandu is located in the southern section of the Tarong Basin, 180 kilometres north west of Brisbane, and adjacent to the Tarong and Tarong North power stations. It is the largest producer of domestic thermal coal in southern Queensland. The mine is wholly owned by Stanwell Corporation. Stanwell signed a new five-year contract mining services agreement with Downer EDI in 2020. The mine operates under mining lease ML6674.
