Metallurgical coal quarterly contract price round-up Q1 2015
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Poor import demand for metallurgical coal into China and more stellar production results in Australia triggered a further US$2/t decline in Q1 2015 contract prices for benchmark low volatile hard coking coals, to US$117/t. But the Q1 negotiations were notable for the divergent trends in pricing for met coal products: semi-soft coal prices only fell US$1/t to US$86/t, ULV PCI coal prices stayed flat, whilst top tier MV HCC coals bucked the HCC trend, winning a US$1.5/t increase to US$116.5/t.
