NSW bushfire update: Springvale stops production while smoke pours over Hunter Valley
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Since our previous update on the bushfires in NSW, Banpu Centennial's 3 Mtpa Springvale coal mine in central western NSW has been the first to stop production. Aside from the Springvale operation, we are not aware of any other operation that has ceased production at this stage. Operations at Banpu's neighbouring 2 Mtpa Clarence mine are continuing but have scaled down. The fires have also moved closer to the Hunter Valley creating a risk to operations from the smoke pouring over mines. A separate, but contained fire largely due to backburning is also burning at the boundary of the Tahmoor coking mine owned by SIMEC (GFG Alliance). While a number of fires are also burning throughout Queensland, we are not aware of any impact to coal mines to date.
