Asset Report
Trend coal mine
Report summary
Trend is an idled metallurgical coal producing mine in British Columbia's Peace River coalfield that is operated by Anglo American. When operational, the mine produces a medium-volatility, low-sulphur bituminous metallurgical coal primarily for export to Asian and European steelmakers. Anglo American announced in September 2014 that the company will idle the Trend mine at the close of 2014 due to weak metallurgical coal market conditions. Anglo has made no recent announcements about any future reopening of the property although the mine could potentially restart in the late 2020s to early 2030s at the earliest
