A delayed energy transition
Report summary
We published our most recent base case outlook and two climate-focused scenarios in September 2023. Since then, the risks of delays in the transition to low-carbon energy systems have grown, particularly because of shifts in policy and politics in several key economies. As a result, we are publishing a new scenario – Delayed Energy Transition – looking at the implications of a five-year delay to global decarbonisation on emissions, commodities, and investment. Read the report to find out: • Why the risks to the pace and scale of the transition have increased? • Impact on oil and gas demand and new technologies. • Change in investment requirement in our delayed transition vs the base case and net zero scenario, respectively.
