Up to 2026, much of China’s CCUS capacity growth were driven by NOCs and SOEs experimenting with capture, transport, and storage technology. The 15th Five Year plan will be an interesting time period for CCUS sector. Whether China will continue with state-driven approach or design market-based incentives will have a pivotal impact on China’s CCUS sector and China’s push to decarbonise its power, hydrogen, and steel sectors.
