Decarbonising Asia: meeting the energy challenge
Report summary
Asia Pacific is the largest consumer and importer of energy and commodities. Its demand for natural resources will continue to grow long term to support economic development and urbanisation. However, the region is also world’s largest emitter of carbon and pollutants. Top 100 most polluted cities are in Asia and the call is growing to embrace clean energy technologies and practices to tackle these challenges. Can Asia rise and decarbonise at the same time? How quickly it will transition to zero-carbon technologies? How will the energy mix evolve in the future? These are themes we discussed at our inaugural Energy and Commodity Summit on 12th November in Singapore.
