COP30 represents a critical juncture for global climate policy – held a decade after 195 nations committed to the Paris Agreement, and over 30 years since global action on climate change began at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit. Billed as ‘the implementation COP’, Belém has a broad agenda to tackle the Paris climate accord. As Belém’s ambitions meet the challenges of accelerating decarbonisation, there are five areas to watch at COP30.
