Asia Pacific had a year of continuous LNG demand recovery in 2024, growing 19 mt or 7% year-on-year. Multiple factors drove the recovery, including organic economic expansion, structural production declines, new entrants’ purchases and delayed nuclear power plants. Price-sensitive buying, along with longer and hotter summers featuring heat waves across much of Asia, spurred additional demand.
