This was presented at the Wood Mackenzie Bangkok Forum, held on the 2 October 2019. Thailand’s gas demand is set to peak in 2027 before gradually declining thereafter. On the supply side, we expect domestic gas supplies to enter into a period of inevitable decline from 2030. This will mean Thailand will increasingly rely on piped gas imports from Myanmar, Cambodia and the Overlapping Claims Area. Even after stacking up all the potential piped gas supply sources, there remain rooms for more LNG imports. Market liberalisation has also emerged as a hot topic in Thailand. The second segment of this presentation attempts to consider the economics for new market entrants into the gas to power and industrial gas segments in Thailand. This presentation deck explores the following themes and presents Wood Mackenzie’s latest insights on: • Thailand’s latest demand and supply gap • The role of LNG in Thailand’s energy future • The economics of entering the power and industrial gas segments
