Coronavirus: Impact on European gas markets (9 April)
Report summary
As coronavirus case numbers continue to grow across Europe, many countries are tightening and extending containment measures to limit the spread. Our coverage now includes a country report for Europe's largest gas market, Germany. The reports covering Pan-Europe, Italy, Spain, France, UK, Netherlands and Belgium have all been refreshed and expanded with our latest analysis. Extending the loss of gas demand since lockdowns from pre-coronavirus projections over a three-month period, we estimate 14.4 bcm of lost gas demand in 2020 from Germany, UK, Italy, France, Spain, Netherlands and Belgium. Together, these seven markets account for over 70% of Europe’s total gas demand.
