Insight
Global short-term LNG supply tracker (Q1 2021)
Report summary
Supplier price response is set to disappear, with focus turning to unplanned outages, maintenances and looming feedgas shortages. Global LNG supply grew only +1 Mt in 2020. Low spot prices triggered massive output curtailments at marginal suppliers over summer, while numerous unplanned outages weighted on supply over Q3-Q4 2020. Supply growth is expected to be strong in 2021 (+21 Mt) but most of it comes from supply recovery rather than new projects.
