How to delay a US gas pipeline
Report summary
Gas pipeline delays have affected more than 28 bcfd of projects between 2013 and 2019 in the United States, representing almost $36 billion of capital investment in the midstream sector. In this insight, we review key issues and major obstacles faced by pipeline projects that have manifested in a number of high-profile project delays. In addition, using multivariable regression analysis, we investigate what factors could play a role in pipeline delays. Finally, we formulate lessons learned from recent legal challenges, and how project developer might benefit from court battles.
