As the Mexican power sector continues to shift away from oil to gas and becomes more reliant on non-domestic supply sources, US exports to Mexico are set to increase from 1.8 bcfd in 2014 to 6.3 bcfd by 2031. This year marks the start of this export trend; US pipeline exports are expected to surge to 2.6 bcfd. And over the next four years, Mexico will add 10.5 GW of new gas capacity and convert another 3.2 GW of oil capacity to gas.
